What should I do if my computer is having a standard hardware issue?
It is advised to take the laptop into your schools IT support and they will advise you if it is covered under standard warranty and the best place to take it to be repaired.

Manufacturer defects are covered from one year (examples: hard drive failure, failed or failing power supplies, failed batteries). These can be taken to any certified HP repair shop near you, or shipped to VLCM (address and information below)

What is the Accidental Protection Warranty and should I buy it?
Students are responsible for any damage done to their computer that is not covered under the standard warranty (things like Cracked LCD panels, Keys broken off of keyboard, AC Adaptors with exposed wires, missing/broken/scratched plastics). If the computer is broken or busted in one of these ways and you do not have accidental damage protection, then you will be responsible for the repair costs (Screens $250+, broken keyboard $85+, damaged motherboard $175+, AC adaptors $65+). If in your environment or situation there is a high probability of damage to your machine, then it is recommended to pay for the accidental protection warranty $49, and it cannot be purchased afterwards.
