Focus to Finish Tasks Faster

by admin on February 19th, 2010

Before you start on your day of work or assignments- define the most important tasks. If you don’t have a clear objective there will be a lot of “task creep”. For example, during your work or school day, you may have an assignment that should take 45 minutes, but because of all of the distractions (texting, phone calls, friends or family disturbances, coworkers, surfing the internet, facebook etc.) the project can end up taking 2 + hours to get done. Multi-tasking does not increase productivity, but hurts it. Tim Ferriss, author and lifestyle designer wrote it best, “If you prioritize properly, there is no need to multitask. It is a symptom of “task creep”– doing more to feel productive while actually accomplishing less. As stated, you should have, at most, two primary goals or tasks per day. Do them separately from start to finish without distraction. Divided attention will result in more frequent interruptions, lapses in concentration, poorer net results.”
